Canadian Society

The “Canadian Society” category focuses on the interviews that describe migrants’ interactions within mainstream Canadian society. Narrators share encounters with discrimination and acceptance, as well as their navigation through the social, political, and gender norms of their new homeland. The accounts reveal the effort to participate in Canadian civic life. This category also highlights the influence of Canadian society on the development of a unique Greek-Canadian and Cypriot-Canadian identity.
