John Sotos was born in 1952 in Arcadia, Greece, and spent his early school years in his village before emigrating to Canada in late 1965. He recalls facing anti-Greek discrimination during his schooling in Toronto and how he went on to study political science and law at the University of Toronto. Sotos was pivotal in founding the Hellenic Heritage Foundation and establishing the HHF Chair in Modern Greek History at York University. He is also involved in The Hellenic Initiative of Canada.
