Homeland Activism

The “Homeland Activism” category brings together interviews that touch upon a diversity of issues that have greatly impacted the Hellenic community over the years. These range from debates over cultural heritage, efforts to provide war relief, and anti-junta advocacy, among other topics. Activism has been integral to maintaining a connection to the homeland even as the diaspora has created new lives in Canada. It shows that despite the distance, interviewees never forgot where they came from and how the fates of Greece, Cyprus, and Canada are intertwined in a globalized world.
