George Poulos was born in 1936 in Toronto to a family from Laconia, Greece. He recalls attending Greek school, celebrating national holidays, and actively participating in church life. Poulos studied engineering at the University of Toronto and went on to work in diverse settings—from iron ore mines in Schefferville to construction sites across the United States and the Caribbean. He reflects on his memories of the Greek Orthodox Youth Association, the St. Demetrios Cathedral dispute, and the Greek War Relief effort.
