Rev. Fr. Peter Avgeropoulos was born in 1959 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Child of parents who migrated to Canada in the aftermath of the Greek Civil War he followed his calling to the priesthood. After moving to London, Ontario, he committed himself to theological study. He became the first Canadian-born Greek Orthodox priest, serving multiple parishes. His ministry included moments of challenge, such as a devastating church fire of Panagia (The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral) in 2000, as well as recognition, including the award of the Patriarchal Cross.
